Valencia vs Espanyol Empty Valencia vs Espanyol

Gary Neville could not have asked of a better team suited to end their woes than Espanyol when they host the latter at the Estadio de Mestalla this Sunday. Gary Neville has been given a harsh welcome to the world of managing a club after he took up the Valencia job.

Valencia haven’t won a single game in the La Liga since Gary took over but seems like this is the day when he gets his first league win. Valencia come into this match on the back of 3 straight losses, to Sporting Gijon, Barcelona and Real Betis last weekend. In each of the 3 matches, they have failed to score as well which makes the result even worse. But it hasn’t been for a lack of chances though. Except for the Barcelona match in the Copa del Rey where they got routed 7-0, both the other losses could have been avoided if Negredo, the primary striker for Neville, had taken any of his umpteen chances. They have been very wasteful of the chances created and considering they are unable to keep clean sheets, this results in a loss.

If there is a team which could take the honors of playing worse than Valencia right now, it is their rivals for the weekend Espanyol. The team has been in a freefall this season and currently, they sit 1 point above the relegation zone. The team has been abysmally poor in the last few weeks and they have conceded goals by the bucketload in this period. In the last 5 matches, they have lost 4 and drawn just 1. They have also conceded 18 goals in the last 5 games while scoring only 3. This should be another goal fest considering both the teams are in equal distress. But Valencia seem to be in a better position since they are keeping it tight at the back and also playing at home. Taking into view, the visitor’s form, Gary Neville may rightly hope for his first La Liga win.

Best Bet – Valencia to win at 4/5
